F.Hinds: High Street By Design competition

Wednesday, 25th January 2017

Categories: BSQ - News

Bristol designers, design students and jewellery lovers are invited to enter F.Hind's High Street By Design competition with the winning entry sold exclusively in their 115 UK stores

F.Hinds, whose Bristol branch can be found on the ground floor of The Galleries in Broadmead, and IJL have embarked on the seventh year of the hugely successful jewellery design competition - High Street By Design. A winning design from 2012, by Marie Taylor, recently featured as one of the prizes in our Valentine's Day competition.

Anyone is welcome to submit an entry including current designers, student designers, and jewellery lovers in a range of categories, both in the UK and internationally.

F.Hinds will work alongside the winners to develop their jewellery pieces to be sold exclusively in all of its 115+ stores across the country, including Bristol, as well as online with the potential for guaranteed commission.

They have the flexibility to quickly bring to life new, interesting and, most importantly, saleable jewellery pieces. This is an amazing opportunity to get directly in front of the jewellery-buying public with all the facilities and backup that their stores and online presence can provide.

The winning designers will see 150 fully created pieces of their winning design produced by F.Hinds using a well known and respected manufacturer and numbered, limited edition certificates as well as an attractive, presentation box for every piece.

The winning items will be distributed for sale in all F.Hinds’ stores and photographed and sold online.

There is a guaranteed commission on sales after the first 150 have been sold (subject to production costs) and an option to design a complete collection, with commission alongside the original piece, subject to suitability after further discussion.

They will also receive a showcase at IJL free of charge,

Entrants are advised to have a look at some of the jewellery sold by F Hinds - either in store or online.

The jewellery they choose to sell is predominantly gold or silver, as those are the two most popular high street precious metals. Entrants should be conscious of price points; very expensive jewellery will not necessarily sell in sufficient quantities from high streets to generate a good result for the designer (although sometimes it does!).

It is important that any design submitted to the competition should not have been previously made, shown or sold commercially.

Designers should be aware that their design will need to be capable of manufacture to at least 150 identical pieces at reasonable production costs.

Submit your design either:

- By post to: HSBD Competition, F.Hinds Ltd, 24 Park Road, Uxbridge, Middlesex, UB8 1NH
- Hand it in to any F.Hinds store, including the one in The Galleries, Broadmead
- Email as an attachment in your chosen format to hsbd@fhinds.co.uk.

Remember to include your full name, contact address, contact telephone number, email address (if you have one) and the category you are entering. Please also indicate as many design points as possible, so that it can be understood and appreciated by the Judging Panel.

Closing date: 31st March 2017.

For further information, please contact Pam Fenton at pam.fenton@fhinds.co.uk or by phone on 01494 718502.
